Mahakarya Pictures, after previously producing 5 films and 1 series, is currently producing its 6th film titled “Pelangi Di Mars” (Rainbow on Mars), directed by Upie Guava. Upie Guava is publicly known as the director of several Music Videos whose recent works have consistently entered the trending list on YouTube, such as: Noah, Lyodra – Sang Dewi (The Goddess), and the most recent one, Ungu – Dasar Hati (The Heart’s Core).

After previously directing the documentary film about the band Seventeen, which was hit by the tsunami disaster, titled “Kemarin” (Yesterday) and was nominated for Best Long Documentary Film at FFI 2021, Upie Guava is now completing production on his first long-form fiction film, titled “Pelangi Di Mars”, a family film set in the year 2100.

This Sci-Fi genre film will be produced using a hybrid method, combining virtual and real-world shooting. To support this, Upie Guava is utilizing XR (Extended Reality) technology, a technology that integrates a combination of human-generated and computer-system graphic interactions. In addition to being set in the year 2100, and true to its title, much of the film’s story will take place on Mars.

The preparation undertaken by Upie Guava is extensive; he has been researching the necessary elements to support this film since the beginning of 2020. The shooting locations for “Pelangi Di Mars” will combine sets within a studio called DossGuava and several real-world locations. For Mahakarya Pictures, “Pelangi Di Mars” is the film with the biggest budget among all five of its previous film productions.
